Bundles on Mercado Livre: how to build one, calculate its cost, and nearly double the profit on low-priced products

On Mercado Livre, a bundle pays the category commission on the bundle price and a single shipping cost for all units. This makes all the difference for low-priced products. Selling three units of a R$ 24,90 product separately leaves R$ 11,91 in profit. The same three units in a R$ 69,90 bundle, which costs the buyer R$ 4,80 less, leaves R$ 21,07. Nearly twice as much, while selling for less.

The reason is simple: shipping and packaging are charged per package, not per unit. On a R$ 25 product, they take a huge bite out of the price. In a bundle, those costs are spread across the units.

#Why bundles increase margin

For a R$ 24,90 product weighing 200 grams, with a 12% commission and 6% tax, Mercado Livre shipping costs R$ 6,85—27.5% of the price. That’s almost twice the commission.

A three-unit bundle weighs 600 grams and costs R$ 8,45 to ship, in the R$ 49 to R$ 78,99 price range. That’s R$ 2,82 per unit instead of R$ 6,85.

3 separate sales Bundle with 3 units
Price for the buyer R$ 74,70 R$ 69,90
Commission (12%) R$ 8,97 R$ 8,39
Shipping cost R$ 20,55 (3 × R$ 6,85) R$ 8,45
Tax (6%) R$ 4,47 R$ 4,19
Product cost R$ 27,00 R$ 27,00
Packaging R$ 1,80 R$ 0,80
Profit R$ 11,91 R$ 21,07

The buyer pays less, you earn more, and shipping—the biggest pain point—drops to a third. On Shopee, the effect is similar because the fixed R$ 4,50 fee is charged per item sold, meaning per listing, not per unit in the bundle.

#Bundles of 2, 3, or 5?

The sweet spot depends on weight and price tiers. Here are a few rules of thumb:

  • Keep the bundle under R$ 79 if the package is light. At R$ 79, shipping costs move to a higher tier: a 600 g package goes from R$ 8,45 to R$ 14,45. A bundle of three priced at R$ 78,99 leaves R$ 28,52; at R$ 79,90, it would leave R$ 23,27.
  • A bundle of 2 works well for products priced between R$ 20 and R$ 40: a bundle of 2 priced at R$ 44,90, made from an item priced at R$ 24,90 (costing R$ 9), leaves R$ 11,17, compared with R$ 7,94 from two separate sales.
  • Larger bundles only make sense for products people use regularly (socks, organizers, consumables), when buyers really want multiple units.

The R$ 79 threshold has its own article: free shipping on Mercado Livre: who pays.

#How to calculate bundle cost

Bundle cost = sum of (cost of each component × quantity) + bundle packaging

Component Quantity Unit cost Subtotal
Product A 3 R$ 9,00 R$ 27,00
Bundle packaging 1 R$ 0,80 R$ 0,80
Bundle cost R$ 27,80

The most common mistake is entering the cost of one unit for the bundle. The bundle's margin shows up as 60%, so the store thinks it's a bestseller and runs more listings, when the real margin is 30%. This is one of the cost errors that most inflates margin. I explained others in the cost error that makes your margin look ten points higher.

Bundles with different components (a main product plus an accessory, for example) also need to include each component at its current average cost. If the cost of one component changes, the bundle cost changes too.

In practice. A hair accessory seller sold hair clips for R$ 19,90, with a cost of R$ 6,80, and each sale left about R$ 2 after R$ 6,85 shipping, commission, and tax. She created a bundle of 4 clips for R$ 59,90, almost R$ 20 less than buying four separately. Within two months, the bundle accounted for 70% of sales, and profit per order rose from R$ 2 to about R$ 13. The single-unit listing stayed live, mainly to show the bundle's savings rather than to sell.

#How to create a bundle listing

  1. Title that states the quantity: put “3-unit bundle” at the start of what the buyer reads.
  2. Photo showing all the units together, with the quantity written on the image when the category allows it.
  3. Weight and dimensions of the bundle package, not of a single unit.
  4. A price that clearly shows the savings compared with buying a single unit.
  5. Same category as the product, since the commission is the same.

#Bundles on Shopee

On Shopee, the fixed R$ 4,50 fee is charged per item sold up to R$ 79,99. On a product priced at R$ 24,90, it takes 18% of the price; on a bundle of three priced at R$ 69,90, it takes 6,4%. A bundle of three of this same product leaves R$ 19,43 on Shopee, compared with R$ 12,99 from three separate sales. The price-tier rule applies here too: keep the bundle under R$ 80. See Shopee fees in 2026 for details.

#Get your bundle margin right

For a bundle to work, its cost needs to be accurate for every sale, including when the cost of a component changes. Milewa calculates each bundle's cost using the current cost of its components and applies it to every Mercado Livre and Shopee order, along with the commission and shipping for the bundle package. You can see the bundle's real margin next to the margin for a single unit and decide which one to keep live.

#Frequently asked questions

Is it worth selling bundles on Mercado Livre?

For low-priced products, almost always. The bundle pays the category commission on the bundle price and has one shipping cost instead of one per unit. For a product priced at R$ 24,90, a bundle of three priced at R$ 69,90 leaves R$ 21,07 in profit, compared with R$ 11,91 from three separate sales, even though the buyer pays less.

How do you calculate the cost of a bundle?

Add the cost of each component multiplied by its quantity in the bundle, plus the bundle packaging. A bundle with three units costing R$ 9 each and R$ 0,80 in packaging costs R$ 27,80. The most common mistake is entering the cost of just one unit for the bundle, which makes the margin look much higher than it really is.

Is the bundle commission different on Mercado Livre?

No. Under the official rules, the fee for a bundle is the same as for separate products: the category percentage applied to the bundle price. What changes is the shipping cost: the bundle is one package, charged based on its weight and the bundle's price tier.
