How to price on Mercado Livre in 2026: the right price by cost and weight, with the shipping table

To price on Mercado Livre, use price = (cost + packaging + shipping cost) ÷ (1 − commission − tax − margin), using the shipping cost from the official table based on the billable weight and price range, then check that the final price falls in the same range. With a cost of R$ 30 and 300 grams, a 12% commission on Clássico, 6% tax, and a 20% margin, the price is R$ 62,50. With a cost of R$ 70 and 8 kg, the same margin calls for R$ 185,08, because shipping alone costs R$ 44,15.

What makes pricing on Mercado Livre different from Shopee is that two products with the same cost may need very different prices because of their weight and category. I’ll show you the table by cost and weight, along with the adjustments that change the result.

#The three pricing variables on Mercado Livre

  1. Category commission. From 10% to 14% on Clássico, and from 15% to 19% on Premium. Check the rate for your category on the listing itself.
  2. Shipping cost. Based on billable weight (the greater of actual weight and height × width × length ÷ 6,000) and price range. See the full table in the 2026 Mercado Livre shipping table.
  3. Tax. The effective tax rate for your tax regime, applied to the full price.

The rest (product cost, packaging, paid listing) is up to you.

#Price table by cost and weight (20% margin)

Clássico with 12% commission, 6% tax, R$ 0,60 packaging, green reputation, no Ads:

Cost Weight Price for 20% Shipping cost Profit per sale
R$ 12 300 g R$ 31,37 R$ 6,85 R$ 6,28
R$ 30 300 g R$ 62,50 R$ 8,15 R$ 12,50
R$ 45 800 g R$ 96,85 R$ 14,45 R$ 19,37
R$ 70 3 kg R$ 148,79 R$ 21,65 R$ 29,76
R$ 70 8 kg R$ 185,08 R$ 44,15 R$ 37,02

The last two rows have the same product cost but prices that differ by R$ 36, just because of weight. For a heavy product, shipping becomes the biggest expense in the sale, higher than the commission.

#The R$ 79 threshold: when it pays to price below it

The third row in the table shows a common case. A product that costs R$ 45 and weighs 800 grams needs to be priced at R$ 96,85 to deliver a 20% margin. But at R$ 78,99, it stays in the cheaper shipping range (R$ 8,45 instead of R$ 14,45) and delivers a 13,6% margin, with a shelf price R$ 17,86 lower.

Price Shipping cost Profit Margin
R$ 78,99 R$ 8,45 R$ 10,72 13,6%
R$ 96,85 R$ 14,45 R$ 19,37 20,0%

Which price brings in more profit each month depends on conversion. If the lower price sells at least 81% more, R$ 78,99 wins. That can happen in a category where price competition is intense, but not in a niche category. Test both and choose based on total profit. #Adjustments that change the price

Premium. With a 17% commission instead of 12%, the product that costs R$ 30 and weighs 300 g goes from R$ 62,50 to R$ 67,98. If Premium can’t support that higher price, it eats into your margin. See the full breakdown in Clássico or Premium.

Mercado Ads. With 8% of the price spent on Ads, the same product needs to be priced at R$ 71,76. If you don’t want to raise the price, accept that the margin on advertised products will drop from 20% to 12%. See the ROAS criteria by margin in Mercado Livre Ads in 2026.

Reputation. The discounted shipping table applies to MercadoLíder, sellers with green reputation, or sellers with no reputation. With yellow, orange, or red reputation, shipping costs more, and all prices go up accordingly. Managing your reputation is also part of managing your prices: see reputation is more than vanity.

Promotion. If you plan to join campaigns with discounts, your regular price needs enough room to absorb the discount. A product with a 20% margin that enters a 15% off promotion ends up at around 9%, because commission and tax fall along with the price, but cost and shipping don’t. I explain this in promotions on Mercado Livre.

In practice. A tool seller used the same price, R$ 149,90, for two drills with similar costs: one weighing 1,8 kg and the other, with its case, weighing 5,4 kg. The second had R$ 33,35 in shipping in the R$ 120 to R$ 149,99 range, compared with R$ 19,85 for the first. At the same price, the first delivered a 21% margin and the second, 12%. He raised the price of the second by R$ 15 and created a lighter version without the case at the old price. The version without the case started outselling the original.

#Step-by-step guide to pricing a listing

  1. Measure the box and calculate the billable weight.
  2. Check the category commission for the listing type you plan to use.
  3. Choose your margin: the amount that covers Ads, returns, and fixed expenses.
  4. Apply the formula using the shipping cost for the likely price range.
  5. If the price falls into a different range, recalculate using the shipping cost for the new range.
  6. Compare it with the leaders’ prices and with the price just below R$ 79, when it makes sense.

The Milewa calculator handles steps 4 and 5 for you: enter the cost, weight, commission, and margin, and it gives you the price for the right range. For listings that are already live, Milewa calculates the ideal price using the commission and shipping cost Mercado Livre actually charged for each order, then shows the difference between the current price and the price for your target margin, listing by listing.

#Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate the selling price on Mercado Livre?

Price = (product cost + packaging + shipping cost) ÷ (1 − commission − tax − margin). The shipping cost comes from the official table, based on billable weight and price range. If the calculated price falls into a different range, recalculate using that range’s shipping cost. The commission depends on the category and listing type: Classic or Premium.

What percentage does Mercado Livre charge?

Commission ranges from 10% to 14% for Classic listings and from 15% to 19% for Premium listings, depending on the category. On top of that, shipping costs vary by weight and price range. For common products, they account for 10% to 25% of the price. Together, the two usually add up to 22% to 35% of the price.

Is it better to sell for R$ 78,99 or R$ 79,90 on Mercado Livre?

Often, R$ 78,99. At R$ 79, the shipping cost moves into a new price range: for a package weighing 500 g to 1 kg, it goes from R$ 8,45 to R$ 14,45. Selling one cent below R$ 79 can leave you with more profit and make your listing cheaper in the storefront.
