The three price steps where Shopee makes you earn less by selling for more

If you sell for R$ 79.99 on Shopee and decide to raise it to R$ 80.00, you get R$ 6.69 less per unit. That's not a typo. At R$ 79.99 you pay 20% plus a R$ 4.50 fixed fee, which means R$ 20.50 in costs and R$ 59.49 after fees. At R$ 80.00, the commission drops to 14%, but the fixed fee jumps to R$ 16, so your cost is R$ 27.20 and you get R$ 52.80 after fees. You charged the customer one cent more and lost almost seven reais.

This step exists because Shopee doesn't charge just one commission. It charges by price range, and each range has its own percentage and fixed fee. Where the ranges meet, there's a jump. There are three of these jumps, and I'll show you exactly where each one starts and ends.

#How Shopee charges today, range by range

The official table applies to CNPJ sellers, and to CPF sellers with up to 450 orders in 90 days. The fixed fee for the first range went from R$ 4.00 to R$ 4.50 on October 1, 2026:

Price range Commission Fixed fee per item
up to R$ 79.99 20% R$ 4.50 (below R$ 9, half the price)
R$ 80,00 to R$ 99,99 14% R$ 16
R$ 100,00 to R$ 199,99 14% R$ 20
R$ 200.00 or more 14% R$ 26

The commission already includes the transaction fee, and Shopee doesn't deduct shipping from you separately: free shipping comes from coupons it gives to the buyer. The exception is for listings with wrong weight or dimensions, where the shipping difference is charged to the seller. Two situations change the calculation: in Featured Campaigns, the commission goes up 3.5 points, and CPF sellers with more than 450 orders in 90 days pay an extra R$ 3 per item. Check your status in the dashboard before setting your price.

#Where the three dead zones are

A dead zone is the price range where, after commission and fixed fee, you get less than you would by selling just below the step. While your price is in that range, raising your price means losing money.

Step After fees, just below Dead zone Only worth it from
R$ 80 R$ 59,49 (to R$ 79,99) R$ 80,00 to R$ 87,77 R$ 87,78
R$ 100 R$ 69,99 (to R$ 99,99) R$ 100,00 to R$ 104,63 R$ 104,64
R$ 200 R$ 151,99 (to R$ 199,99) R$ 200,00 to R$ 206,95 R$ 206,96

Below R$ 9 there's no step: the fixed fee of half the price grows with the price and meets R$ 4.50 exactly at R$ 9.

The R$ 80 step is the most expensive and, not by chance, the most crowded. That's exactly where most of the catalog is for those selling accessories, home goods, and bath items.

In practice. An accessories seller showed me his price table and 23 listings were between R$ 80 and R$ 87. All could go back to R$ 79.90 and make more per unit, with a lower price on the shelf. That was the only price change that month, and the profit per order went up without a single customer complaining about a price increase, because there was no increase.

#What to do with a product that fell into the dead zone

You have two options, and they're opposites.

The first is to drop just below the step. R$ 79.90 instead of R$ 84.90. You make more per unit, get more competitive in search, and probably sell more. It's the obvious choice when your product is at R$ 82 or R$ 85.

The second is to really go up, beyond the break-even point. If your product supports R$ 95, it shouldn't be at R$ 84. At R$ 95 you get R$ 65.70 after fees, versus R$ 59.42 at R$ 79.90. That's when the price increase actually means more money.

What doesn't make sense is staying stuck in the middle of the step, which is where most catalogs are.

#Does this apply to Mercado Livre too?

The mechanism is the same, but the setup is different. On Mercado Livre the step is at R$ 79, where the shipping cost changes range (mandatory free shipping starts at R$ 19), and the size of the jump depends on the package weight. For a 400-gram package, going from R$ 78.99 to R$ 79 costs R$ 5.60 more in shipping.

I wrote about this case in the article about shipping on Mercado Livre, because the decision logic changes a lot when weight comes into play.

#The lazy way to never fall for this again

Don't memorize the table. It will change, just like it did on October 1.

What works is having a place where you type the price and see what's left. If what's left doesn't go up when you raise the price, you're in a dead zone and you already know what to do. The profit calculator does this with Shopee and Mercado Livre ranges built in, and it's free.

For your entire catalog, it's the same calculation repeated hundreds of times, so it's worth automating. That's what Milewa does: it checks each of your listings, applies the right range, and shows which ones are priced inside a step.

#Frequently asked questions

How much does Shopee charge in commission in 2026?

Shopee charges by price range, with the transaction fee already included. Starting 10/01/2026: up to R$ 79.99 is 20% plus R$ 4.50 per item (until 09/30 it was R$ 4.00); below R$ 9, the fixed fee is half the price. From R$ 80 to R$ 99.99, 14% plus R$ 16. From R$ 100 to R$ 199.99, 14% plus R$ 20. From R$ 200 and up, 14% plus R$ 26. In Featured Campaigns, the commission goes up 3.5 points. CPF sellers with more than 450 orders in 90 days pay an extra R$ 3 per item.

Why does selling at R$ 80 on Shopee make less than selling at R$ 79.99?

Because at R$ 80 the fee range changes. At R$ 79.99 you pay 20% plus a R$ 4.50 fixed fee, which means R$ 20.50 in costs. At R$ 80 the commission drops to 14%, but the fixed fee jumps to R$ 16, so your cost is R$ 27.20. The cost goes up R$ 6.70 while the price only went up one cent.

From what price is it worth leaving the R$ 79.99 range on Shopee?

From R$ 87.78. Below that, you get less, after fees, than you would selling at R$ 79.99. The range between R$ 80.00 and R$ 87.77 is a dead zone: you charge the customer more and take home less.
