Mercado Livre fees in 2026: what you pay per sale, with the official fee table
Mercado Livre charges two fees per sale in 2026: the category commission, which ranges from 10% to 14% of the listing price for a Classic listing (Premium adds about 5 percentage points), and the shipping cost, which ranges from R$ 5,65 to over R$ 100 depending on package weight and price range. For a R$ 89,90 product weighing 400 grams with a 12% commission, the two add up to R$ 24,64, or 27,4% of the price. For a R$ 15 product, the same calculation takes almost half of your revenue.
Most sellers I talk to know the commission by heart and get the rest wrong. Not because they’re careless: the rules changed twice in less than a year, and the fee everyone had memorized was discontinued in March. I’ll lay out the full calculation here, using the official table verified in September 2026, so you know exactly how much each listing pays the marketplace.
#What are Mercado Livre’s fees today?
There are two charges, and they’re completely different.
The commission is a percentage of the sale price. It depends on the product category and listing type. For Classic listings, it’s usually between 10% and 14%. Premium listings, which offer buyers interest-free installments and more exposure, add about 5 percentage points. There’s no "single Mercado Livre fee": sellers of phone cases and sellers of tools pay different percentages.
The shipping cost is a fixed amount in reais per unit sold, based on a table that matches package weight by row with product price range by column. It applies to FULL, Coleta, and Agência, and applies even when the buyer pays for shipping. That’s the line in the official rules that catches most people off guard.
On top of those two, you also pay expenses that aren’t marketplace fees but still add up: tax on the Nota Fiscal, sponsored listings, returns, and packaging. I’ll cover those at the end.
#What changed in 2026: the fixed fee is gone
Until February 2026, products priced below R$ 79 were charged a fixed fee per unit, around R$ 6, on top of the commission. It was easy to memorize, and everyone put it in their spreadsheet.
Since March 2, 2026, that fee has been gone. It was replaced by a weight-based shipping cost that also applies to low-priced products. In practice, the fee became a table:
| Package weight | up to R$ 18,99 | R$ 19–48,99 | R$ 49–78,99 | R$ 79–99,99 | R$ 100–119,99 | R$ 120–149,99 | R$ 150–199,99 | R$ 200 or more |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| up to 300 g | R$ 5,65 | R$ 6,85 | R$ 8,15 | R$ 12,95 | R$ 14.95 | R$ 16.95 | R$ 19,05 | R$ 21,65 |
| 300 g to 500 g | R$ 5,95 | R$ 6,95 | R$ 8,25 | R$ 13,85 | R$ 16.15 | R$ 18,15 | R$ 20,45 | R$ 23,25 |
| 500 g to 1 kg | R$ 6,05 | R$ 7,15 | R$ 8,45 | R$ 14,45 | R$ 16,85 | R$ 19,05 | R$ 21,35 | R$ 24,45 |
| 1 to 2 kg | R$ 6,15–6,25 | R$ 7,35–7,45 | R$ 8,65–8,75 | R$ 14,75–15,05 | R$ 17,15–17,65 | R$ 19,45–19,85 | R$ 21,75–22,25 | R$ 25,45–25,55 |
| 4 to 5 kg | R$ 6,55 | R$ 8,85 | R$ 10,25 | R$ 19,75 | R$ 22,85 | R$ 26,05 | R$ 29,25 | R$ 32,45 |
| 9 to 10 kg | R$ 7,05 | R$ 9,45 | R$ 10,85 | R$ 38,25 | R$ 45,05 | R$ 51,95 | R$ 58,75 | R$ 65,85 |
Rates for sellers with green reputation, MercadoLíder status, or no reputation, for new products. Official table checked on September 24, 2026. Yellow, orange, or red reputation uses separate tables, with no discount. For products under R$ 19, the cost never exceeds half the product price.
Notice two things. First, the jump between R$ 78,99 and R$ 79: for packages up to 300 grams, the cost goes from R$ 8,15 to R$ 12,95 because, starting at R$ 79, you offer buyers fast free shipping. Second, the weight jumps between 5 and 6 kg, and again between 9 and 10 kg: in the R$ 79 to R$ 99,99 range, a 9,5 kg package costs R$ 38,25, almost twice as much as a 4,5 kg package. I wrote a whole article about the R$ 79 threshold because it determines the price for many stores.
#How much Mercado Livre takes from five real products
I picked five common product profiles and calculated only the marketplace fees, using a 12% commission for Classic listings (replace it with your category’s rate):
| Product | Price | Weight | Commission | Shipping cost | Total fees | % of price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small accessory | R$ 15,00 | 200 g | R$ 1,80 | R$ 5,65 | R$ 7,45 | 49,7% |
| Case, cable, household item | R$ 29,90 | 200 g | R$ 3,59 | R$ 6,85 | R$ 10,44 | 34,9% |
| Mid-priced item | R$ 59,90 | 400 g | R$ 7,19 | R$ 8,25 | R$ 15,44 | 25,8% |
| Just above R$ 79 | R$ 89,90 | 400 g | R$ 10,79 | R$ 13,85 | R$ 24,64 | 27,4% |
| R$ 150 product | R$ 149.90 | 1,2 kg | R$ 17,99 | R$ 19,45 | R$ 37,44 | 25,0% |
The first row is the most alarming and the one most people overlook. A R$ 15 item gives half its price to the marketplace before you pay for the product, packaging, and tax. If it costs you R$ 6, there’s nothing left. Low-priced products only make sense on Mercado Livre if your costs are very low or you sell them in a bundle.
The fourth row shows the effect of the threshold: the R$ 89,90 product pays a higher share of its price than the R$ 59,90 product, even though it costs more.
#How much does Classic vs. Premium change?
For the same R$ 89,90 product, switching from Classic (12%) to Premium (17%) raises the commission from R$ 10,79 to R$ 15,28. Total fees go from R$ 24,64 to R$ 29,13, or from 27.4% to 32.4% of the price.
Five percentage points may not seem like much until you compare them with your margin. If that product had an 18% margin with Classic, it has a 13% margin with Premium. To make it worthwhile, Premium needs to sell about 38% more in the same period (18 ÷ 13) just to break even on profit in reais. Sometimes it does. Often it doesn't. I ran the full numbers in Classic or Premium: which one is more profitable?
#Why the box's weight can cost more than the product
Mercado Livre doesn't charge based on the product's weight. It charges based on whichever is greater: the physical weight or the dimensional weight: height × width × length, in centimeters, divided by 6,000.
A 40 × 30 × 25 cm box has a dimensional weight of 5 kg, even if the product inside weighs 600 grams. Sold for R$ 129, this package costs R$ 26,05 to ship, instead of R$ 19,05 for a package weighing up to 1 kg. That's R$ 7 per sale spent shipping the empty space in the box.
In practice. A home decor seller sent me a list of their ten best-selling listings. Three were pillows shipped in large boxes with lots of empty space. After switching to vacuum packaging, the billable weight dropped from nearly 5 kg to less than 1 kg, and shipping costs per sale fell by R$ 6 to R$ 8, depending on the price range. At 300 sales a month, that recovered about R$ 2.000 in margin without changing prices.
Before entering dimensions in your listing, measure the box that actually leaves your stock. Incorrect dimensions throw off your numbers in either direction: too low, and you calculate a margin that doesn't exist; too high, and you pay to ship empty space.
#What doesn't show up in the fee table but still eats into your margin
Commission and shipping are what Mercado Livre charges. But there's more that comes out of your pocket:
- Tax. Under Simples Nacional, the tax rate applies to the full price, not what's left over. A store in the first tier of Annex I pays 4%; as revenue grows, the effective rate goes up. I explain it in the tax that goes up on its own.
- Sponsored listing. Mercado Ads charges show up separately from the order, at the end of the period. If you spend 8% of revenue on Ads, that 18% margin becomes 10%. Read about ACOS and TACOS before increasing your budget.
- Returns. The marketplace refunds some fees, but the sale is gone, and you may have to cover return shipping, depending on the reason. I break down the numbers in how much returns eat into your profit.
- Packaging and labels. Pennies per order add up to hundreds of reais a month.
#How to calculate the Mercado Livre fee for a listing
There are four steps to calculating the cost of each listing:
- Commission: price × category rate for the listing type (Classic or Premium).
- Billable weight: whichever is greater: the actual weight or (H × W × L ÷ 6,000).
- Shipping cost: Match the billable weight to the price range in the official table. For prices below R$ 19, cap it at half the price.
- Total: Add the two costs and divide by the price. That's the percentage the marketplace takes.
Calculating it by hand once helps you understand how much each line item matters. To test prices, the Milewa profit calculator applies the current table and shows what's left in each price range, including the R$ 79 threshold.
The problem with manual calculations is that they go out of date fast. Commission rates vary by category, the shipping table changed twice in one year, and your costs change with every purchase. Milewa pulls the commission and shipping cost for each order directly from your Mercado Livre account. It shows your margin by order and listing, after tax and Ads. Listings that sell a lot but bring in little profit rise to the top instead of getting lost in your revenue.
#Frequently asked questions
What are Mercado Livre's selling fees in 2026?
There are two charges per sale. Commission is a percentage of the price that depends on the category, generally between 10% and 14% for a Classic listing; Premium adds about 5 percentage points. The other charge is shipping, billed per unit based on the package weight and the product's price range. It starts at R$ 5,65 for a light, inexpensive item and can exceed R$ 100 for heavy, expensive items. Together, these charges come to about 20% to 30% of the price for most products, and over 40% for items under R$ 20.
Does Mercado Livre still charge the R$ 6 fixed fee for products under R$ 79?
No. As of March 2, 2026, the fixed per-unit fee no longer applies. Instead, every product is charged shipping based on the official table, which varies by weight and price range. A 300-gram item sold for R$ 19 to R$ 48,99 costs R$ 6,85 to ship; at R$ 49 to R$ 78,99, it costs R$ 8,15.
Does the seller pay lower fees when the buyer pays for shipping?
No. Under the official rules, shipping costs apply to all sales, even when the buyer pays for shipping. For orders of R$ 19 or more, free shipping is required and the seller pays. Below R$ 19, the buyer pays for shipping, but the seller still pays the per-unit cost, capped at half the price.
How can I find the exact commission rate for my Mercado Livre category?
When you publish or edit a listing, Mercado Livre shows how much you'll receive for each listing type. You can also check the selling costs page in the Help Center. Milewa reads the commission for each listing directly from your account and applies it to every order.
